pepe nero (is a pseudonym) for a painter-sculptor who lives and works in New York City.
After a tour of duty during the Korean War he was able to attend university, specifically Washing University in St.Louis, Missouri.
His university accolades include three years of tuition scholarships and two summer scholarships to Skowhegan Art School, Skowhegan, Maine.
During the early sixties he was active in the art scene, participating in exhibits; and as a set designer and occasional actor for the experimental theater group, Theater Genesis.
1966 - Guest Instructor in art, University of North Carolina at Greensboro
1967 - 1992 Professor/Art Department, Rutger’s, The State University of New Jersey.
He has exhibited widely in group exhibitions and has had eight one-person exhibitions in New York and abroad. He is the recipient of numerous grants and awards including a Guggenheim fellowship in painting and drawing.
