Silhouette
Flash Fiction (63 words)

Silhouette (c) D. Coyote

Before sunrise, south of a small Iraq village, the HUMV carrying Private Michael Davis became an immense ball of flame.
On a kitchen stoop in Ashland, Oregon, with their ten-month old son in her arms, Sarah Davis looked into the most beautiful sunset she remembered.
"Oh, Michael . . . " she said aloud.
She sat and watched daylight fade though silhouette leaves.
